On November 1, BABYMONSTER, comprised of members Ruka, Pharita, Asa, Ahyeon, Rami, Rora, and Chiquita, held an exciting press conference at YG Entertainment’s headquarters situated in Mapo-gu, Seoul, to commemorate the launch of their inaugural full album titled “DRIP.”
This latest release follows their previous album just three months earlier and signifies their first complete album since their debut. BABYMONSTER officially made their debut in April of this year with new member Ahyeon, and they are already introducing their first full-length album within a year of their debut.
Rora expressed her excitement, stating, “We are thrilled to finally present our first full album. It may feel fast-tracked, yet this is all due to the overwhelming love and support we’ve received from our fans. Prior to this album launch, we concluded our fan meetings successfully, which was a significant experience as it allowed us to bond with fans and learn so much. This first year has been incredibly meaningful.”
Chiquita remarked, “We are eager to reveal new aspects of BABYMONSTER through this album, which showcases a variety of musical genres,” while Ahyeon highlighted, “We embraced numerous challenges. Throughout our monthly evaluations, we delved into different genres, and this album represents that diversity.”
The full album “DRIP” features a total of nine tracks, including dual title tracks “DRIP” and “CLIK CLAK.” It also includes “Love, Maybe,” characterized by enchanting vocals paired with guitar melodies, “Really Like You,” which channels a 90s hip-hop vibe, and “BILLIONAIRE,” which merges deep 808 bass with R&B tones evoking a Y2K atmosphere. The album offers the lively “Love In My Heart,” suitable for listeners of all ages, along with “Woke Up In Tokyo” (RUKA & ASA) showcasing the hip-hop influences of the Japanese members. The previously released single “FOREVER” and the fan favorite remix “BATTER UP Remix” from their encore performance also feature on this album.
Rami shared, “In keeping with the title ‘DRIP,’ we have infused this album with our rich BABYMONSTER charm. As our debut full-length album, we made an extra effort. With nine songs to explore, the array of genres allows listeners to find their personal favorites,” further mentioning, “This album was crafted with the thought of how to best present everything we’ve developed through our fan meetings and activities.”
Ruka concluded by stating, “I believe this album will signify a new classic for YG. We hope to garner your interest as we aim to display both our distinctive vocal characteristics and youthful charm.”
As planned, BABYMONSTER’s first full album “DRIP” officially launched at 1:00 PM (KST) on November 1.
