On May 8 (KST) evening, a popular fanpage for the group BABYMONSTER on the SNS platform X (formerly known as Twitter) faced backlash for making derogatory remarks towards BLACKPINK’s Jennie.
“In response to a post featuring pictures of Jennie at the 2024 MET Gala, the fanbase for BABYMONSTER, known as “for BABYMONSTER”and with a following of nearly 42 thousand, left a comment stating “Jennie sucks”and included a barfing emoji.”
This comment quickly gained the attention of the BLACKPINK fan community, causing them to become angry and call for a public apology from the fanbase to Jennie.

Following the eruption of the controversy, “for BABYMONSTER”promptly addressed the issue on their personal page by posting a lengthy message.
The fanpage, known as ‘forBABYMONSTER’, issued a statement saying, “We would like to extend our apologies to Jennie for the controversial tweet made by one of our team members on a BLACKPINK fanbase post. Our team was unaware of the sender’s identity and we want to address that there has been suspicious activity on our account.”
According to the fanpage, a password change was reported at approximately 2 AM the previous day. As a precaution, the main administrator promptly changed the password again. It was also noted that none of the administrators in the Philippines use an iPhone, yet there was a questionable login from an iPhone about 45 minutes prior to the offensive tweet directed at Jennie.
In addition, the fanpage provided various screenshots as proof of their accusation of “suspicious activity”and also issued apologies to Jennie and her fans.
“Despite our best efforts, the issue remains unresolved. Despite changing the password multiple times, individuals other than the administrators are still able to access our account. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused. Moving forward, we will exercise greater caution when creating or responding to posts regarding BABYMONSTER or any other artists,”they added.
Despite receiving an immediate response and explanation regarding the comment, the apology from ‘for BABYMONSTER’ has failed to pacify BLACKPINK fans. Many believe that the excuse of a “hacked account”is outdated and not credible.
Currently, the matter is still being discussed on X, and after receiving strong backlash from BLACKPINK fans, ‘for BABYMONSTER’ has either locked or deleted their account.
The contentious fanpage has disabled its account on X.
