The third episode of ILLIT’s vlog, which was released on May 29, showcased behind-the-scenes footage of the group during M!Countdown. This was made possible through Belift Lab, a subsidiary of HYBE.
The moment that captured the most attention was when BABYMONSTER, who were also present at M!Countdown, were rehearsing their vocals. These rehearsals could be heard in ILLIT’s waiting room and, despite only lasting a few seconds, quickly became viral.

Under the video, there was a lot of discussion about whether or not BABYMONSTER, who are known for their talent, were putting in hard work to practice their vocals while they were getting their makeup done. In contrast, ILLIT, who were surrounded by controversies regarding their live singing, seemed more occupied with taking photos and focusing on “creating content”backstage.

After viewing BABYMONSTER’s behind-the-scenes vlog from M!Countdown, it was evident that multiple members, including Rami, Asa, Ahyeon, and Rora, were diligently practicing their singing and rehearsing before their performance. This noticeable difference led netizens to draw comparisons between the skills and dedication of the two rookie groups from HYBE and YG.
After rising to fame as a “monster rookie”with their debut track “Magnetic,”ILLIT, a five-member group created through the survival show R U Next, faced backlash just two months later. The group received criticism for their live singing abilities and also faced accusations of plagiarism.
On the other hand, when BABYMONSTER first debuted with seven members, they also received a mixed response from netizens. Several people expressed their views that their music was outdated and their music videos appeared to be similar to those of BLACKPINK.
After YG promoted their live performances, BABYMONSTER showcased their impressive talent in both singing and dancing, which ultimately led to their title track “SHEESH”entering the Top 10 of MelON.
Comments from some netizens:
- The singing of BABYMONSTER was featured in ILLIT’s vlog, which was truly ironic.
- The group in need of vocal practice is not engaging in it.
- I couldn’t spot anyone, but their laughter reverberated around me.
- You just can’t help but compare
- This is the reason why it is often said that with talent and hard work, no one can surpass you.
