Bakugo’s Misogyny ~ My Hero Academia and Naruto Fans Debate

Despite having some of the largest and most diverse casts of characters in Shonen, both the Naruto and My Hero Academia series have faced their fair share of criticism. While many characters from Masashi Kishimoto’s beloved series became fan favorites, even after the release of the Boruto series, Sakura was unfortunately met with dislike from a significant portion of the fanbase.

Despite the belief of many fans that there is no legitimate reason for this hate and it is simply comparable to the Sakura hate, which is often attributed to the alleged misogyny within the anime fandom, there are also numerous fans who vehemently reject this statement.

This article includes minor spoilers for both the My Hero Academia and Naruto series.

The Controversial Clash: Naruto vs My Hero Academia – Who is the Most Hated Side Character?

The reason for the Sakura hate has been a subject of mystery among fans for a considerable amount of time, with some suggesting that it is primarily found on social media platforms. Some believe that it stems from her being a female character.

Bakugo, like Sakura, is also disliked by a significant portion of the My Hero Academia fanbase. This dislike is often attributed to Bakugo’s past behavior of bullying Deku during their childhood.

On the other hand, some fans argue that these reasons are not justified as Bakugo’s character has evolved since their childhood. They compare the current dislike towards Bakugo to the “Sakura hate”in the Naruto fandom, which is based on unfounded reasons.

Fan Reactions to the Situation

Despite receiving hate similar to Sakura, Bakugo has garnered support from numerous fans who recognize him as one of the few male characters in anime to face such criticism. This hate, which has been attributed to the anime fandom’s alleged bias against female characters rather than valid reasons, is a unique challenge for Bakugo as a male character.

Despite facing criticism from a significant portion of the My Hero Academia fandom, Bakugo has received support from both Naruto and My Hero Academia fans. Some argue that Bakugo’s experiences cannot be compared to Sakura’s and acknowledge that he possesses qualities that may not be well-liked.

“We don’t like bakugo because he is a bully and a mean spirited b***h and I also hate deku sometimes for enabling his behavior and going “ohhh kacchan🥺”all the damned time,”one fan said.

“YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW BAD SAKURA SLANDER WAS,”another fan said.

Despite the comparisons made by some Naruto fans, others believe that the criticism towards Bakugo in My Hero Academia is not as intense as the hate directed towards Sakura in Naruto. In fact, Sakura was often more detested than the actual antagonists in the series. Meanwhile, some My Hero Academia fans speculate that the dislike towards Bakugo may not solely stem from his character, but could also be influenced by his significant fan following.

“Nah Sakura hate was so bad I never seen a damn character get more death threats then a damn villain of the series.”One fan wrote.

“I feel like people don’t hate Bakugo, they just hate his fandom,”another fan wrote.

Despite their different reasons for criticism, both Sakura and Bakugo have faced intense hate from their respective fanbases since their introduction. While the negativity towards Sakura has been particularly severe and continues to be a prominent topic in online discussions, the backlash against Bakugo has become difficult for the My Hero Academia community to understand due to the diverse motives behind it.
