Baldur’s Gate 3 is known for its abundance of clever insults, and Auntie Ethel reserves her most scathing remarks for specific character classes.
Ever since it was first released, Baldur’s Gate 3 has been consistently praised for its exceptional writing. The game’s poignant storytelling has been a major source of acclaim, but even smaller lines of dialogue have received applause.
Auntie Ethel’s mocking comments aimed at certain character classes were recently brought to attention by Reddit user peparony on the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit.
“A user on the BG3 subreddit shared that they find Auntie’s class-specific insults entertaining. They also mentioned that players in Baldur’s Gate 3 who encounter Auntie Ethel as a Barbarian will be referred to as “brainless.”
At the same time, Paladins can anticipate the NPC labeling them as a “grizzled and stubborn individual fixated on their oath.”
Auntie Ethel and her true form.
It is unanimously acknowledged by players that Auntie Ethel’s biting remarks are among the most cruel in the game. Considering her identity as a malicious Hag who takes pleasure in causing pain to others, this should come as expected.
According to a user on the Reddit thread, “Ethel’s insults stand out among the rest because they are PERSONAL and extremely vicious.”
Ethel continues to drive this point home with her specific jabs at Origin. One instance is when she asks Lae’zel, “Do you long for the days of kissing Vlaakith’s feet, gith?”
Shadowheart received a hurtful comment that said, “If no one else loves you, why would Shar?”
Auntie Ethel is not the sole character in Baldur’s Gate 3 who delivers harsh insults. In battle, players are bombarded with hundreds of taunting lines aimed at provoking their enemies.
