Baldur’s Gate 3 Community Sets Wager for First Player to Trigger Rare Cutscene

There is a particular conversation in Baldur’s Gate 3 where Karlach realizes that she is a character in a video game. As a result, there is now a significant reward for anyone who can activate this scene without using mods.

A video of Karlach breaking the fourth wall in Baldur’s Gate 3 was initially shared in September 2023. However, nearly a year later, YouTuber Proxy Gate Tactician has offered a $500 reward for anyone who can recreate this scene naturally within the game.

The first person to post this highly unusual cutscene was Chubblot. The scene begins with Karlach shifting her gaze from the player’s character to directly at the camera, almost as if she is trying to communicate with the player behind it.

“Do you know how this adventure ends? Tell me now,”she asks, before adding, “And have you done this before?”Her questions hint at the possibility that you may have played through the game multiple times or completed it once before.

Despite knowing of the existence of this particular scene and voice actor Samantha Beart’s suggestion that it can be accessed organically, no one has been able to provide evidence of triggering it in-game without the use of mods.

“Congratulations on discovering this! Maybe I’ll discuss it when it comes up naturally, instead of pulling up the file and getting confused about the context…”Beart mentioned in a post on her Twitter account (https://x.com/SamanthaBeart/status/1703158961753502110).

To date, the only known method of activating this conversation is through the use of mods or manipulating the game’s files. As a result, the Proxy Gate Tactician is actively searching for individuals who are capable of triggering this event and is even offering a reward as an incentive.

According to dataminers, the dialogue that breaks the fourth wall has been marked as “Currently Can Not Be Triggered,”suggesting that it may not be possible to trigger it at all. However, those willing to take on the challenge and claim the prize must submit a video demonstrating the method used to trigger it. The method must also be “reproducible by others”in the current patch.
