In 2019, one developer revealed that Larian Studios had provided substantial donations to the creators of Blasphemous, a notable indie game release, in a discreet manner.
Despite being an indie game, Blasphemous achieved significant success in 2019, garnering high reviews and greater attention compared to other titles. Its unique combination of traditional Metroidvania gameplay and innovative 2D souls-like combat and storytelling received much acclaim, leading to the release of a sequel by developers The Game Kitchen.
Similar to many other aspiring indie games, Blasphemous was able to launch thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign. Despite initially aiming to raise $50,000, the team exceeded expectations and raised over $300,000, enabling them to fulfill their promising concept.
Not many people knows this, but @larianstudios was one of the biggest contributors during the @BlasphemousGame Kickstarter campaign. They dropped a 4 figures sum, never asked for their rewards and just kept making one of the best games ever done in recent years.Legends! 🥲 pic.twitter.com/uQ6kfWbFsT

A developer who contributed to the creation of Blasphemous has emphasized the significance of Larian Studios, the team responsible for the upcoming Baldur’s Gate 3 in 2023, in providing support for the project since its inception.
According to a tweet by Enrique Colinet, it is not widely known that Larian Studios played a significant role in the Kickstarter campaign.
“Despite never asking for their rewards, they continued to pour a significant amount of money into the project and ultimately created one of the most highly acclaimed games in recent years.”
The interpretation of this could vary depending on how you define an indie game, but it could be seen as one independent development team assisting another. Nevertheless, Larian Studios has a greater amount of manpower and resources at their disposal compared to most other developers in the industry.
