The developers of Baldur’s Gate 3 have disclosed some content that was not included in the game, such as areas featuring Wyll, Gortash, and other characters.
The captivating story and outstanding performances in Baldur’s Gate 3 have led to the creation of some truly unforgettable characters. The community has long been eager to uncover datamined details about these characters, providing a glimpse into what the game could have been.
Nonetheless, it is widely believed within the community that some characters are not receiving fair treatment. Two characters in particular, Wyll and Gortash, are often mentioned as examples. Many players argue that Gortash, who is portrayed as a villain, should have a separate storyline in a different act.
Although Larian has confirmed that they will be enhancing Wyll’s dialogue and romantic scenes, and that Gortash will not be a romance option in the upcoming Patch 7, a PCGamer interview with Larian shed light on unreleased content for these characters that did not make it into the game.
Wyll and his patron Mizora in Baldur’s Gate 3.
The report stated that Wyll was designated to have his own designated space in the Red War College. Additionally, players were originally set to encounter Gortash in Candlekeep rather than Baldur’s Gate.
Familiar to players of the first Baldur’s Gate game is this location, known as the residence of the game’s protagonist, Gorion’s Ward. However, according to the report, there is more to this place than just that.
If you were able to discover Kagha’s secret during Act One, then you must be familiar with the Shadow Druids. As it happens, there was meant to be a meeting spot for the Shadow Druids near a gnome village, and players could have explored this area in a similar non-linear manner as the original games.
The team disclosed that the areas were eliminated for various reasons. Nevertheless, the main concern was that they were smaller in size, resulting in fewer opportunities for players to freely express themselves and pursue their own actions.
Despite the knowledge that the game did not include all of the planned additions, the extensive content and mod support being added in Patch 7 will likely keep players occupied for a considerable amount of time.
