Baldur’s Gate 3 Fix for Pickpocket Exploit Forces Consequences for Theft

Within Baldur’s Gate 3’s extensive gameplay, enthusiasts have uncovered various tricks and cheats to streamline their experiences. However, a recent exploit addressed in Patch 7 has compelled players to engage in stealing and pickpocketing through traditional, more challenging methods.

Larian Studios launched Patch 7 for its popular D&D RPG, introducing features like new evil endings, distinctive dialogue from Astarion related to cheating, and “adorable”camp interactions.

Deep within the patch notes released on September 6, a Reddit user highlighted a fix for a trading exploit that allowed players to easily commandeer items from traders. This was achieved by placing the items into a container and dragging them to the container icon.

Ok, people, time to confess. Who’s the snitch? byu/Xykon_the_Sorcerer inBaldursGate3

“[T]ime to confess,” the post stated, “Who’s the snitch?” It appears that numerous fans of Baldur’s Gate 3 utilized this exploit and likely shared their experiences, leading to Larian Studios’ decision to patch it.

Now, players have to either purchase items from traders or adeptly pickpocket them like a true thief. The downside is that there’s always the risk of failing the Sleight of Hand check and getting caught in the act.

“Used that exploit in my successful honour mode run because I hate being a loot goblin,” one player shared, “very glad I got it finished before this lol.”

Others are already wishing for new methods to easily obtain items from traders. “Guess we need a mod now,” another player commented.

One fan anticipated that someone would devise a new exploit without mods within three days, while another simply said they would revert to traditional stealing methods.

With the patch fixing this major exploit, many players are curious if their favorite cheats had also been addressed.

“I wonder if they fixed the warlock bind weapon glitch,” a user pondered. This was not an isolated inquiry, as several others referenced the Pact of the Blade Warlock bug, which enables players to generate multiple valuable weapons for sale.
