Baldur’s Gate 3 players have learned not to make a critical choice that leads to a specific NPC turning against them.
Among the characters in Baldur’s Gate 3, Dame Aylin stands out as a potential ally in battles. For those unfamiliar, she is not an ordinary NPC. Dame Aylin is the daughter of Selune, an Aasimar demigod who was captured and used for Ketheric’s immortality.
Despite her powerful status, she may not always be the most reliable supporter.
In a Reddit thread, a player shared their experience of being a “backstabbing jerk” during their eighth playthrough, leading to them handing Dame Aylin over to the wizard Lorroakan.
The Paladin Dame Aylin in Baldur’s Gate 3.
“In every encounter I’ve ever had, Aylin is trash,” the player noted. However, what transpired afterward highlighted the importance of not underestimating NPCs.
“Now I give her up to Lorroakan, and ALL OF A SUDDEN, she gets three assistants that all have 200 HP, a reaction that can do nearly 150 damage and can cast invulnerability as a bonus action along with an extra attack that deals around 40 damage.”
The player attempted to be clever by casting Hunger of Hadar but was overwhelmed by damage, leading to their companions being defeated before they could respond.
“I just can’t believe how horrible Aylin is until I’m the one that has to fight her,” they added. Many players found humor in the situation, with some joking about the user’s experience.
“Ah, the counterpart to the ol’ ‘The boss vs the boss after you unlock him as a playable character’ trope,” commented one player.
Another player remarked, “Aylin is hindered by the meta rule that NPCs can’t overshadow the protagonists; making her a significant threat allows her to unleash her full power.”
One more player mentioned, “This is the only reason I don’t turn her in. I don’t want to deal with that.”
Ultimately, the decision of whether to turn in Dame Aylin to Lorroakan is yours. Regardless of the choice, both options will lead to a confrontation inside Ramazith’s tower.
