There are differing opinions about the Emperor, a character in Baldur’s Gate 3 who is beloved by some players and despised by others.
Despite being a Mind Flayer, the character’s self-centeredness and manipulative actions have caused a great deal of animosity towards him. However, one fan has uncovered a wrongdoing that they cannot overlook.
A person who proudly identifies as an “Emperor stan”stated that they can no longer support him upon learning that he used the memory of Minsc’s deceased friend and Wychlaran to manipulate Minsc. They expressed disgust, stating that it was a cruel and manipulative action.
The player of Baldur’s Gate 3 shared their disappointment through a Reddit post, which also included a screenshot of a dialogue between their Tav and Minsc.
During their discussion, Minsc warns Tav against continuing to work with the Emperor and recounts a painful memory of the Mind Flayer’s manipulation. The Emperor had disguised himself as Minsc’s late friend, Dynaheir, in an attempt to deceive Minsc into believing that she had been resurrected.
After learning about this revelation, the OP is reconsidering their loyalty to the powerful Mind Flayer.

One player expressed that even though they haven’t progressed far in their malevolent journey, the revelation about the Emperor’s deceit towards Minsc is deeply upsetting. This is particularly painful because Dynaheir was seen as the driving force behind Minsc’s actions in BG1.
