Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7 Introduces Surprising Buffs for Monks

The highly anticipated Patch 7 for Baldur’s Gate 3 has been released on PC, introducing some unexpected updates to the Monk class. These changes include several buffs and fixes to address previously broken elements.

The Monk, specifically the Way of the Open Hand subclass, is renowned as one of the strongest classes in Baldur’s Gate 3 due to its ability to both attack and inflict status effects on enemies. For those brave enough to try Honor Mode, the Monk is the recommended class to take on the challenge.

Despite not being the most captivating class in the game, the Monk has a dedicated fan base who have just received some exciting news. The official Baldur’s Gate 3 website has released the notes for Patch 7, which is now live on PC (with a console release to follow). The update includes changes to some of the Monk’s abilities.

The Monk has received some long-awaited fixes in Patch 7

The most significant change is to the Monk’s Deflect Missiles ability, which is obtained at level 3. This ability has the potential to redirect a projectile back at an enemy, but there was an issue where the projectile would often hit obstacles on its way back. This issue has been resolved in Patch 7.

The Clench of the North Wind spell, previously bugged and only able to target one enemy, has been fixed for Way of the Four Elements Monks. Now, at level 9, the spell can successfully target multiple enemies as intended.

The Way of the Shadow Monks has also been updated. The Shadow Step ability now grants Advantage, which can be combined with the Rogue Sneak Attack. While this may only apply in certain situations, it can be beneficial for those who have multiclassed for stealth purposes.

These updates bring important fixes for the Monk class. Due to the late addition of the class to the game, it may not have been as polished as other options. However, with the release of Patch 7, which is the final major content update for the game, the Monk can now battle without being hindered by glitches.
