The Baldur’s Gate 3 community has broken down some of the best ways to defeat the game’s (some say) most difficult boss.
While boss fights aren’t always the focus of Baldur’s Gate 3, the final Act 2 fight against Ketheric is one of the game’s highlights.
Not only does it take place over several stages, but it is considered the most difficult in the game, all because of its final form: the Apostle of Myrkul. Even if you have decided to spare Chantenuit, it is a difficult fight, especially because of the anti-healing aura that the Apostle generates at close range.
It’s a tough battle, potentially even tougher than some of the Act 3 bosses. However, that hasn’t stopped some players from turning the Apostle encounter into an exact science.
Baldur’s Gate 3 player highlights how to best approach the Apostle of Myrkul fight
On Reddit, player Big-Background-44 asked the Baldur’s Gate 3 community for help in fighting this boss. And one player took the time to develop his foolproof technique. It involves taking advantage of the cutscene triggering and sneaking around the arena: “After the cutscene, if all other party members were still in stealth mode, then only your Tav will be drawn into the fight. If your Tav has initiative, enemies won’t move until you finish your turn, giving you the freedom to reposition the rest of the group. I had Wyll sneak up behind the necromites and blast them with a shockwave.”

“I had Gayle turn Scratchy invisible, teleport to the Mind Flayer, and launch a max-level magic missile. I had Lae’Zel teleport to the Mind Flayer to finish him off, then she jumped to the central platform. Scratch, invisible, snuck up to Aylin and freed her. My monk and Lae’Zel were enough to finish Ketheric in one turn.
He continued, “When Myrkul appears, focus only on him. Ignore the necromites. The disarming attack works on him if you’re lucky. Hasty finishers will also burn through his HP quickly if you choose to have a paladin. I made Wyll and Gayle move, placed a cloud of daggers for each. Then I just spammed EB and fireball. Myrkul didn’t even have the chance to heal himself.”
So, what are you waiting for? Test this method as soon as possible in Baldur’s Gate 3? !
