Baldur’s Gate 3 Player Learns the Hard Way Not to Long Rest with This Item

One player of Baldur’s Gate 3 has chosen to end their Honor Mode Dark Urge run due to a single item causing issues.

Playing through Baldur’s Gate 3 can be filled with unexpected mishaps. Whether it’s getting caught stealing due to a failed roll or transforming into a wheel of cheese, there are countless things that can disrupt your progress. To avoid any setbacks, it’s wise to save your game periodically in case things don’t go according to plan.

It is possible to redo tasks by loading an earlier save, except in an Honor Mode playthrough where one would have to go through additional steps.

After getting into trouble for using an item before going to bed, one player has decided to end their Dark Urge Honor Mode playthrough. They shared their experience in a Reddit thread, explaining how it all began with buying the Risky Ring from Araj in Moonrise Towers and wearing it.

Don’t test your luck putting the Risky Ring in a Dark Urge Honor Mode run before a long rest.

For those who are not familiar, the Risky Ring grants the wearer a benefit on Attack Rolls, however, it also comes with a drawback. Utilizing it will result in a disadvantage on Saving Throws.

In order to free the Tieflings from prison, the player decided to take a long rest. However, it turned out to be the same night that the butler asked them to kill Gale. Despite this, they refused and instead went to wake up Gale.

This is where the situation took a turn for the worse. Despite having disadvantage on saving throws, I attempted to suppress my urge four times but failed each time. After I stabbed him, everyone was in disbelief that I had killed another companion.

To make matters even worse, they failed yet another Deception roll while trying to explain the situation to the camp. This resulted in everyone becoming hostile towards the player. In response, Shadowheart cast Hold Person on them. Feeling defeated, the player decided to delete their save as they knew they wouldn’t be able to win the ensuing fight.

“Take it from my mistakes, everyone. Make sure to unequip that ring before each conversation and every long rest,”they urged. While some players sympathized with them in the comments, others confessed that they would never risk using the ring on their own Tav.

One user mentioned, “I never use the risky ring on my main Tav. It’s better to let one of the companions take that risk.”Many players have claimed that the ring is a good fit for Astarion with the proper build. Ultimately, it is evident that the Risky Ring truly lives up to its name.
