Baldur’s Gate 3 players are requesting new dialogue options to avoid awkward companion rejections.
Romance is a key aspect of Baldur’s Gate 3, with many fans looking to fall in love with the various companions that surround the game’s expansive story. In fact, it’s such a central aspect that many joke that Baldur’s Gate 3 is more of a dating simulator than an open-world RPG.
Nonetheless, while some are interested in romancing multiple companions, others are feeling a little more exclusive and are now calling for major dialogue changes to help avoid any awkwardness once they find “the one.”
Baldur’s Gate 3 players want new dialogue options to indicate they’re already caught
Sharing their idea on Reddit, one user asked the community: “Why isn’t there an option to tell characters you’re already taken?”»
Usually, when players begin a romance with a companion, the others continue to flirt and advance on the Tav, which can make their rejection quite awkward, as well as a bit hurtful.
“One thing that amazed me is why the game just doesn’t let you tell suitors that you’re already dating someone else,” the player wrote, joking: “Like Wyll, buddy, I respect you for taking a chance but I’m already with Shadowheart, sorry!»
Naturally, these rejections can feel a little uncomfortable, with many players requesting that this change be implemented in a future update.

“Even just a generic, ‘no thanks, I already have someone in mind’ where they don’t put on Faerun’s saddest face following that,”one user commented, revealing how difficult it can be to make these well-written companions sad.
Fortunately, there are a few companions who you can tell, Minthara and Halsing being an example: “Halsin is one of the few who you can tell that you are already in a relationship, and can then clarify that you are not not interested in jeopardizing said relationship.»
However, this does not apply to all companions and will not save you from Wyll’s puppy dog look.
There’s no word on whether this will eventually be added but with the additions promised in Patch 6, it’s certainly not impossible.
