Baldur’s Gate 3 Players Argue for White Hair’s Impact on Stealth

In a game like Baldur’s Gate 3, having stealth is crucial. It allows you to surprise enemies, set traps for an ambush, and ensure your Rogue successfully executes a Sneak Attack, as long as their hair color is appropriate.

The technique is often used in combat scenarios and is particularly effective if you or your companion is a Rogue. This is because remaining unseen provides a significant advantage over your opponent.

Despite arguments from fans of Baldur’s Gate 3, it is believed that a specific companion and their hairstyle are so noticeable that it can hinder one’s ability to remain undetected during stealth missions.

One player shared their argument, accompanied by amusing evidence, by posting on the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit, explaining why they believe that “Having white hair should result in a -10 penalty to stealth.”

In addition to their straightforward argument, the player also included several photos showcasing a ‘hidden’ Astarion, which are undoubtedly quite easy to spot.

Naturally, this amused fans, who pointed out in the comments that the resident Rogue’s fashionable hair color makes him “literally unhideable.”

Some individuals also pointed out that since Astarion can hide in the snow, the joke is on anyone who tries to find him during winter. They humorously suggested that he would seamlessly blend into the wintry surroundings.

Curiously, there have been other games that have addressed the issue of hair color, as one fan explained: “In Horizon, the protagonist with a fiery red mane is able to conceal herself in patches of grass. The red grass perfectly matches her hair, so perhaps for those mundane magistrates with white hair, some bushes with silver leaves scattered throughout the map could provide them with opportunities for stealth.”

Despite Astarion’s need for discretion, Larian has not provided any white-tipped bushes or hair dye options for his convenience.

It would be unjust to discriminate against players based on their hair color, but the poster’s argument does suggest that white-haired characters tend to stand out more than a black-haired Shadowheart would.
