Baldur’s Gate 3 players call for Larian to address lack of companion romance.

Many players of Baldur’s Gate 3 have noticed a lack of unique scenes and accompanying dialogue when attempting to romance one specific companion, leading to an almost nonexistent experience.

Despite being occupied with fighting the Spider matriarch, saving prisoners from an underwater prison, and taking down the big bad, Baldur’s Gate 3 still manages to keep your Tav busy with its well-executed romance content in their camp.

Even though they add excitement to your playthrough, it’s common knowledge that the community does not view all companion romances equally.

Several players have brought up the idea that Minthara’s romance needs to be ‘fixed’, as mentioned in a Reddit thread. The issue with Minthara is that although it is possible to pursue a romance with her as a virtuous character, there is a specific romantic encounter that can only occur if you are playing an evil playthrough.

Despite not having as many overall romance scenes as other companions, this has left some players feeling underwhelmed with the entire experience.

Don’t let those sad eyes fool you, this grey girly is kind of a monster.

One player expressed their opinion that “she, in general, is only beneficial in an evil playthrough.”They went on to say, “I can see why Larian would want to satisfy fans, but I attempted to recruit her in a ‘normal’ playthrough and received minimal approval from her, resulting in a lack of engaging content. I don’t understand the fascination with Minthara in good playthroughs.”

According to another Reddit user, there was a lack of additional content surrounding the character and she was frequently plagued with bugs. The user noted that even after a major story event, she would continuously repeat the same line about the “Emperor being a useful ally”.

Another user also noted that the romance with her is almost non-existent. The only way to have a proper scene with her is by completing the grove, as there is no content in Acts 2 or 3. In Act 3, the romance only involves a single conversation where you agree to date, unlike Lae’Zel who has several romance scenes and unique conversations from Act 1 to Act 3.

Another player added, “Although Real is my second favorite, I dislike playing the role of an evil character. If you choose not to be evil, you won’t experience any romantic scenes. Even if you follow the evil route, you’ll only have one scene in Act One.”

Thus far, we are aware that Patch 7 will introduce numerous enhancements, leaving room for the possibility of new additions for the character as well – particularly since the upcoming patch will have significant implications for evil players.
