In Baldur’s Gate 3, players can become emotionally invested in one of their companions. Despite the game’s extensive resurrection choices, many are unwilling to risk putting this character in harm’s way.
In the majority of playthroughs, it is highly undesirable for any of your companions in Baldur’s Gate 3 to perish. However, the combat can be brutal, resulting in characters being stabbed, blown up, or even mysteriously vanishing due to a “comedic”glitch.
There are multiple methods to resurrect fallen characters. Each character is equipped with a Scroll of Revivify, which allows for their revival. More experienced players can also use the Revivify spell. Additionally, Withers in the camp is able to revive fallen companions for a fee of 200 gold, regardless of where they perished.
Even with these precautions in place, certain players find it difficult to send Scratch, the loyal canine companion, into the midst of battle in BG3.
Am I the only one that doesn’t send Scratch into battle? byu/sammie-boy09 inBaldursGate3
A discussion on the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit revealed that numerous players are hesitant to put their four-legged companion in danger, even for a short period of time. One user expressed, “I’ve noticed some players sending Scratch into battle, but I simply cannot bring myself to do so, fearing that I may lose him in the midst of a fierce battle.”
Several players provided reassurance to others, assuring them that Scratch would come back to camp even if he died in battle.
Some players, however, confessed that they were unable to stand the idea of their character being harmed. “I did it once. When my dog got hit for the first time, I reloaded my save. I won’t let anyone hurt my dog,”admitted a Baldur’s Gate 3 player.
Interestingly, someone else inquired, “Can Scratch be used in battles?”They have been unknowingly keeping their canine companion safe.
The community mostly prioritizes keeping Scratch safe and only allows him to go on “walkies”occasionally.
Despite being released a year ago, Baldur’s Gate 3 continues to captivate and amaze its players. From protecting Scratch from danger to discovering that he can play fetch with something unsettling instead of a ball, the game and its community constantly uncover unforeseen possibilities.
