Baldur’s Gate 3 Players Criticize Dark Urge Power as Disappointing

The community has expressed disappointment with one of the key attacking powers of the Dark Urge, a deadly Origin character in Baldur’s Gate 3 known for their proficiency in killing.

Spending hours crafting the perfect build in Baldur’s Gate 3 is just one of the many enjoyable aspects of the game. From carefully selecting spells and abilities to strategically choosing feats, players can devote considerable time to perfecting their character for the ultimate goal of defeating the Elder Brain.

Each class acquires unique abilities that make them skilled in their respective elements, and the Dark Urge is not an exception, obtaining some particularly twisted powers.

Nevertheless, a portion of Baldur’s Gate 3 players are heavily criticizing one of these abilities, deeming it as “underwhelming”and advising fellow Durge players to steer clear of using it.

The Slayer Form, similar to Wild Shape, can be unlocked in Act Two and is essentially the Durge version of the feature. It enables you to transform into a powerful beast that can deal various types of damage and execute intriguing attacks.

Despite fans taking to the Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit to express their disappointment with the feature, many have revealed that after unlocking the Slayer form, it does not live up to their expectations and is simply a glorified wild shape.

They continued by stating that the Slayer Form, which can only be activated once a day, is extremely restricted in comparison to the six times a day the owlbear form can be used by Druids. Its multiple attacks and damage increase can also be easily replicated by Druids.

Surprisingly, this capability existed in previous installments of Baldur’s Gate, as one user disclosed: “In the previous games, the slayer form was a formidable yet risky ability. It provided increased damage and buffs, but with each passing round, it also inflicted more damage until death.”

Despite the player’s statement, there were still many fans who agreed with it. Some even made jokes about how “Slayer is similar to being deceived by a salesman”when considering its description versus its actual effectiveness.

Surprisingly, a user shared a construction that effectively utilizes the Slayer Form: a Dark Urge Barbarian. This build allows the character to have “multiple actions and the ability to rage before transforming while retaining the rage effect, enabling me to become an enraged slayer with the ability to attack three times.”This could greatly enhance their strength.

While the Slayer Form may not be the most dominant enhancement for the Dark Urge character, it has the potential to be more satisfying than many may think when utilized in the appropriate build.
