Baldur’s Gate 3 Players Disappointed Over Removal of Trial Exploits

The Gauntlet of Shar remains a challenging trial of both physical and mental prowess, but Baldur’s Gate 3 players are disappointed that a well-known cheese strategy will no longer be an option.

Fans eagerly anticipating new endings and official mod support for Larian Studios’ Dungeons & Dragons RPG were surprised to learn that Patch 7 has been leaked. However, the mention of exploiting a trial has caused disappointment among some fans.

A post on Reddit brought to attention that players of Baldur’s Gate 3 will no longer be able to exploit the Leap of Faith trial by clicking the last platform and relying on their character’s pathfinding to reach it.

The pathway is not visible during the test, requiring players to determine the correct route in order to avoid falling and dying.

NOOO I am way too stupid to beat this as intended 😂 byu/alyssaryn inBaldursGate3

The initial commenter admitted they were “far too lacking in intelligence to conquer this in the intended manner” with a laughing emoji. This prompted other replies concurring that it was a simple method to swiftly navigate through the Gauntlet.

One player expressed frustration by saying, “It’s annoying, but I’ll be really upset if they remove the ability to cast knock on Shar’s door.” This is just one example of the various techniques that gamers have employed to overcome the challenges in unconventional manners.

One response even included a method for completely avoiding the trials: “Once I discovered that obtaining a single orb and using the spear from the library to unlock the door was an option, I stopped participating in the trials altogether.”

Fortunately, several comments pointed out an alternate method for successfully completing the Leap of Faith trial. One individual even provided a link to an image of the pathway map located on the floor of the shrine, which was right in front of the players.

The reply garnered reactions from bewildered fans who were previously unaware of this map, including one player who admitted “now I feel foolish.”

In addition to this easy solution, one commenter expressed confusion over the fact that the invisible path was not visible to other players, as it was to them.

The user clarified that they have completed the gauntlet four times and each time the “invisible”path appears as a dark purple walkway to them.

A response to this comment noted that they were also able to locate the path because they had previously played Baldur’s Gate 3 on an outdated LCD screen. However, playing on their modern OLED screen hindered their ability to see it entirely.

Despite the widespread dislike among players for completing the Leap of Faith trial in the traditional manner, they can find comfort in the fact that there will continue to be numerous alternative methods for overcoming this challenge after Patch 7 is released.
