Baldur’s Gate 3 players explain essential Shadowheart spell you should always have

According to Baldur’s Gate 3 players, one of Shadowheart’s spells is essential for every playthrough, particularly when navigating the Shadowlands in Act 2.

Without a doubt, Shadowheart is one of the top companions to have by your side in Act 2 of Baldur’s Gate 3. She plays a crucial role in unraveling the mysteries of the Gauntlet of Shar and her skills are unmatched when it comes to navigating the treacherous Shadowlands.

This dark and dangerous region is teeming with adversaries lying in wait to ambush any group, and navigating the treacherous terrain can be especially challenging as it inflicts constant environmental harm. Therefore, players have unanimously hailed Shadowheart’s Spirit Guardians spell as a lifesaver, especially when attempting to thwart Flaming Fist Marcus’ attempts to kidnap Isobel during the Last Light Inn battle.

At Level 3, Shadowheart gains access to the Spirit Guardian spell, which enables her to summon protective spirits in the area around her. These guardians are capable of dealing up to 23 Radiant damage per turn to any enemies near the cleric and reducing their movement speed by half.

Despite some fans crediting this skill for their survival in the Shadowlands, others have expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that this Light domain spell does not align with Shadowheart’s lore as a Sharran Cleric.

According to a comment, while it may be technically allowed in the game, it goes against the principles of Shar. The commenter points out that Shadowheart is listed as a healer in the list of Clerics sent out by the mother superior, so they could make a case for the Life domain. However, the connection to Shar still raises some doubts.

Despite this technical issue, players continue to praise Spirit Guardians for its effectiveness in protecting Halsin’s portal from cursed enemies. One player even suggested the idea of having a College of Lore Bard in the party, with their own Spirit Guardians spell, for added protection and the ability to perform disable traps and lock-picking tasks, as well as having high charisma for trading.

In addition to Spirit Guardians, The Blood of Lathander is also highly effective against the Shadowlands and is a valuable addition to any Shadowheart build in Baldur’s Gate 3.
