Baldur’s Gate 3 players lack remorse for NPC death despite heartbreaking letter

Despite one Baldur’s Gate 3 NPC dropping a remorseful letter after being defeated, many players are surprisingly unaffected and do not feel the need to reload an old save.

Larian Studios made a lasting impact on players with their D&D RPG, leaving behind numerous poignant letters, including Dammon’s epilogue letter about Karlach. Some of these notes have even been described as “nightmare-fuel,”unsettling players unlike anything else.

Upon defeating Gasper, a member of the Fist of Bane, in Act 3, players will have the opportunity to read a letter from his mother. The letter congratulates her son on securing a promising job opportunity.

The letter detailed Gasper’s father’s pride in him for upholding the Throaks name and announced their plans to celebrate at Elfsong Tavern.

Despite the presence of a sad emoticon in the title of the post, indicating the Reddit poster’s dejected feelings, the majority of the replies were far from remorseful.

Despite fans believing Gasper to be completely innocent, many comments have pointed out that the NPC is actually a member of the Fist of Bane, which indicates that he works for Gortash. Why would this be the case?

It is not difficult to imagine that Gortash’s foot soldiers are well aware of his corrupt nature, as he is one of the three main antagonists in Baldur’s Gate 3.

“[H]e’s not simply an innocent man in a difficult situation,”one response clarified. “He is deeply involved and likely strongly believes in his actions, otherwise he would not have been able to progress this far.”

One individual claimed that if the player concealed themselves just out of view before initiating the fight, they would be able to overhear Gasper reassuring another guard that it was acceptable to harm or even kill the Gondians, who were enslaved and held captive by the Iron Throne.

Surprisingly, patrons of Elfsong Tavern may also experience a lack of guilt upon visiting, especially if they come across Gasper’s parents dining there.

“According to a detailed response, it was discovered that his mom was having an affair with Tamia Holzt and subsequently chose to leave her husband for her in a very public manner.”

It is evident that fans of Baldur’s Gate 3 are aware of the need to carefully consider their emotions before regretting the death of an NPC, as not all characters are as they appear to be.
