Baldur’s Gate 3 players love the game’s ‘most overpowered’ feat

Baldur’s Gate 3 players have expressed their love for the “most overpowered”feat in the entire game, giving their party immense advantages in combat.

Baldur’s Gate 3 received a huge amount of praise, both critically and socially, with the game ultimately winning Game of the Year at the 2023 Game Awards.

With an abundance of options, players can make their own choices with complete freedom. Whether players choose to be good, evil, a noble Paladin or a cunning rogue is entirely in their hands.

The same goes for the game’s combat, which allows players to choose how they approach each encounter. Sometimes this means avoiding combat altogether, however, when things get tense, Baldur’s Gate 3 players have fallen in love with the Alert exploit.

BG3 players fell in love with the Alert exploit

When starting a fight in Baldur’s Gate 3, all entities involved must roll an Initiative Roll. Initiative dictates turn order in combat, meaning it’s essential to have high initiative to be able to strike first.

This is where the Alert feat comes into play, as it grants a +5 bonus to Initiative, and prevents you from being Surprised. This is incredibly handy when facing opponents, as you will always have the first word.

In a Reddit post, player u/Pirate186 started the discussion. He said: “Alert has got to be the most overpowered thing ever.”

“It’s amazing and it’s my favorite feat. I always choose it in regular DnD, also if my character is neurotic, anxious or a fearful person,” another agreed.

Others have pointed out that since Baldur’s Gate uses a D4 for the Initiative Roll, a +5 bonus is even more welcome.

“It’s even more rigged in BG3 considering that initiative is done with a d4 instead of a d20.”

However, with a wealth of achievements to choose from when playing Baldur’s Gate 3, this can be unsettling for some. Fortunately, Alert is still a great option for anyone who is undecided.
