The Owlbear cub is adored by players for its cute appearance and close bond with fellow good boy Scratch. This only adds to the disappointment when any in-game errors involve the character.

One player of Baldur’s Gate 3 discovered this the hard way and shared their experience on the game’s subreddit.

The player stated in a post that they may have mistakenly given the owl bear its unhatched sibling as food.

Despite carefully hand-picking all of their long rest provisions to prevent any chance of consuming the Owlbear Egg that can be acquired in Act 1, the item inexplicably vanished.

The poster eventually came to the realization of what had gone wrong – when the cub appeared at Camp and asked for food, they had agreed to give the critter something from their pack.

The player was unable to select the item to give the cub, causing them to come to the conclusion that the only possible way for it to have been consumed was if they fed it the owl bear egg meant for its sibling.

Upon reading the post, some individuals have come to the realization that they also made the same error, as one player commented, “I believe your explanation has shed light on the perplexing vanishing of the egg in my previous game.”

Despite feeling “horrible” about the error and expressing their remorse as “I’m a terrible Druid and I’m so so sorry,” the player’s mistake was not a significant faux pas, particularly in the Owlbear community.
