Baldur’s Gate 3 players heavily criticized Minthara’s new dialogue, with many calling the romance “slap in the face “.
Baldur’s Gate 3 was one of the biggest video games of 2023. The RPG immediately won over fans upon its release. Reviewers also praised the game for its in-depth exploration, character development, and freedom in creativity and design.
The game even won the top prize at The Game Awards 2023 and continues to be a must-play game even in 2024. However, a recent update to the game left fans frustrated regarding how a companion was slightly reworked thanks to a few dialogue changes.
The companion in question is Minthara, the warrior with a strong character who takes time to open up to the player. And romance between Minthara and the player is a major topic of discussion within the Baldur’s Gate 3 community.
Baldur’s Gate 3 players are unhappy with Minthara’s new romance dialogue
Indeed, the recent changes made to the dialogues surrounding the romance between Minthara and the player displease the community. Previously, it was possible to get the game’s best ending while trying to explore a romance with Minthara despite her reluctance.
However, the new dialogue changes made it so that Minthara could reject the player outright, thus impacting the end of the game.
In a Reddit discussion, Baldur’s Gate 3 players called the new dialogue changes for Minthara’s romance “a slap in the face”. The post is filled with comments from players equally frustrated with the changes.

One user wrote: “I would have preferred if she didn’t get any new dialogue if that’s what we’re getting.”I hope it’s a bug like some people suspect.”
Another Baldur’s Gate player explained that in addition to not looking like Minthara, these changes can also impact the entire game experience.
“The problem for me is not the reaction itself. This forces our hand. No other combination of player character and romance partner excludes you from the best ending if you want to stay with them. “Dark Impulses Repentant
