While convincing the Displacer Beast in Act 2 to betray its master may not be a difficult task, players have mentioned that there are certain steps that must be taken beforehand in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Many Baldur’s Gate 3 players are captivated by the dynamic between Yurgir, the formidable Orthon demon who serves as one of Act 2’s most challenging bosses, and his loyal Displacer Beast companion. Fortunately, some dedicated fans have uncovered ways to empower the “pet”and help it assert its independence.
According to a Reddit post cautioning players about discovering the dark connection between Yurgir and the Displacer Beast, some users have revealed a method to seek retribution for the creature and persuade it to join forces with the main characters.
According to a user, it can be easy to overlook this detail. Many players have already defeated Yurgir and his friends at this stage, making it impossible to make the connection.
The initial step for players is to deceive the Orthon demon and persuade him that they will assist in eliminating Raphael’s contract. This will grant them access to the area where the Displacer beast resides, and they can then investigate a peculiar spider carcass located at X: -643, Y: -722.
Upon successfully completing an Arcana check, individuals will observe that the meat has been coated with succubus saliva. Upon tasting it, they will realize that its repulsive flavor has a “seductive”effect. If Gale is present, repeatedly licking the spider will cause him to exclaim: “Cease licking the cursed creature!”
By investigating and tasting the spider, players will be able to access an important conversation with the Displacer Beast named Nessa. By using the spell “Speak with Animals,”players will discover that Nessa developed a fondness for Yurgir after consuming the spider. If players succeed in another Persuasion check, they can persuade Nessa to assist in attacking the demon in case the player initiates a battle with it.

Having Nessa by your side during Yurgir’s battle will greatly assist in defeating one of the toughest bosses in Act 2. Alternatively, you can earn Yurgir’s favor by aiding him in breaking his contract with Raphael, or follow Karlach’s advice for swiftly handling Orthon’s demons.
