Baldur’s Gate 3 players urged to wait for Patch 7 before playing

Patch 7 for Baldur’s Gate 3 is expected to be released in September 2024, but some players are already anticipating its arrival and have vowed to not play the game until then as a form of self-punishment.

Typically, a gaming community will cease playing a game if they lose interest in it or if the developers make changes that frustrate the player base. However, in the case of Baldur’s Gate 3, the reasons for a decline in play are anything but conventional.

As the seventh major update approaches, many players have decided to “deprive”themselves of the joy of playing the game. In fact, a large number of users have joined in on this self-imposed punishment, sharing their reasons for doing so on the Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit.

The Dark Urge is getting some exciting endings in the next patch.

“One player asked if anyone else was refusing to play BG3 until Patch 7. The post gained momentum as hundreds of other players joined in on the boycott.”

Another fan responded, “Yes, I have been experiencing the urge, but I will wait for the patch.”

Some also explained the reason behind the fanbase’s actions: “I have chosen to hold off on playing Baldur’s Gate 3 since patch 4, in order to give the developers time to add all of their planned content and allow modders to create even more exciting additions. It has been a difficult decision.”

With the addition of multiple new endings in patch seven, it’s understandable to have reservations about starting a new game. After all, every action has consequences and can greatly influence the outcome you receive. It would be a shame to miss out on a potential new ending.

There is little chance that the update will significantly alter your game, so players can continue to enjoy their adventure and also reap the rewards of the new endings. Nevertheless, some are opting to delay their gameplay, either as a precaution or to fully savor the game with the next update.
