The Dark Urge is one of several character paths available in Baldur’s Gate 3, but it is important to not become too immersed in the role as it may lead to disastrous outcomes in your playthroughs.
Larian Studios’ Baldur’s Gate 3 boasts numerous strengths, including its vast array of choices and diverse gameplay options. With the game catering to any strategy a player may choose, one can truly play in their own unique style. This aspect also extends to character building, further enhancing the immersion into the world of Faerun.
The Dark Urge is a defining character trait that drastically affects your gameplay. Without any recollection of your past, all you are driven by is an insatiable craving for violence and bloodshed.
Although immersing oneself in the fantasy of a character can be enjoyable, it may also be beneficial to resist the temptation of causing harm to your party, as one player learned.
First Durge playthrough and I f**ked up almost immediately! byu/MisterSpikes inBaldursGate3
During their initial Dark Urge playthrough, Reddit user MisterSpikes had intentions to pursue Gale. They envisioned a romantic relationship between their “hot AF”wood elf Paladin and the Waterdeep wizard.
The individuals were unaware that the Dark Urge offered additional dialogue options, including the option to contemplate murdering their companions.
Upon encountering a dialogue option to “Fantasize about hacking off [Gale’s] hand”, they justified it by thinking, “It’s just a harmless fantasy.”However, this seemingly harmless option ultimately resulted in their Tav brutally and impulsively hacking off Gale’s hand.
I mean, one little slice can’t hurt… right?
As expected, Gale was not happy about losing his hand, as this meant that Spikes could no longer join their party. “I’m pretty upset about it, but I have to admit, it was pretty hilarious.”
Despite the situation, one Redditor managed to see the positive side, humorously pointing out that Spikes will always be with you in some way.
