Baldur’s Gate 3’s Arcane Tower Basement: Uncovering Hidden Secrets

Despite having been released for over a year and played for countless hours, Baldur’s Gate 3 continues to hold many secrets waiting to be discovered by players. One dedicated fan recently uncovered that the Arcane Tower holds even more surprises than originally anticipated.

The Arcane Tower, located in the Underdark, is a highly intriguing location within Baldur’s Gate 3. It is known for its challenging puzzles, beloved character Bernard, and a variety of powerful items to discover and utilize.

Many players may be unaware that the Tower has a basement. Although it may require some effort, the reward of finding a powerful Staff while exploring makes the journey worthwhile.

To begin, it is important to have the Guiding Light ring that Bernard rewards you with for solving his riddle. This ring will reveal a hidden button on the elevator that grants access to the basement.

Discovering the basement relies on what most people consider to be a requirement of finishing the Arcane Tower, so it can easily go unnoticed. In fact, one player was unaware of its existence until 550 hours had passed.

A new button appears on the elevator when you use the Guiding Light ring.

“After playing for nearly 550 hours and starting my fourth playthrough, I was surprised to discover the basement floor in the Arcane Tower,”‘joxthunder’ shared on Reddit. “I can’t believe I didn’t know about this hidden floor and I’m sure I’m not the only one.”

Upon entering the basement, the Staff of Arcane Blessing can be found next to a set of bookshelves at the top of the stairs. This Quarterstaff is not a common find, as it grants the user the Bless spell. However, the real highlight is the Mystra’s Blessing passive ability, which adds an extra 1d4 to Saving Throws and Attack Rolls, and an additional 2d4 to Spell Attack Rolls.
