The Baldur’s Gate 3 Githyanki stands out as one of the game’s strongest races due to their Astral Knowledge, Psionics, and proficiencies. However, selecting this race means facing rejection from most Githyanki NPCs.
In Baldur’s Gate 3, there is a wide variety of races to choose from. While most of them only impact your rolls and combat abilities, some may provide helpful dialogue options during roleplay. However, selecting one of the more powerful races in the game may result in shorter conversations, especially when encountering other Githyanki.
When traveling with Lae’zel as a Gith Tav, you will notice that most conversations are directed towards the companion instead of the player. Many Gith NPCs will choose to ignore Tav and speak directly to Lae’zel, regardless of any similarities between the two.
Despite the fact that you are just as much of a Gith as Lae’zel, Voss is guilty of such ignorance by only appearing if she is in your party.
Many members of the community share this particular grievance, as evidenced by various posts on r/BaldursGate3. These posts highlight the frustration felt by players who often feel that their only option is to play as a Durge Gith Tav in order to combat rudeness in the game.
To prevent being excluded from your own story, it is advised to not play as a Durge and to either make Gith characters less charismatic or to leave Lae’zel behind when entering Gith territory. However, this may result in facing her anger.
