With Patch 7 set to release in September, Larian Studios has been teasing fans of Baldur’s Gate 3 with sinister new cinematics. One such ending, known as the Dark Urge, shows your companions committing unspeakable acts.
It is challenging to determine the exact number of endings available in Baldur’s Gate 3, but there are even more on the horizon for players who prefer to take on an evil playthrough.
It is important to be cautious of spoilers if you have not finished playing this Dungeons & Dragons RPG yet.
Patch 7 – New Ending Teaser – Dark Urge byu/Kazuliski inBaldursGate3
The Dark Urge is seen at the start of the video standing next to Shadowheart, Lae’zel, and Wyll. Using their illithid abilities, the player’s character hypnotizes the companions.
As they approach the edge of the Nautiloid ship, the three of them gaze out into the distance. Without warning, they tumble forward and plunge to their doom. The camera pulls back to reveal their lifeless bodies hurtling through the air.
Unexpectedly, the Dark Urge meets the same fate and falls over the edge in the ending. The clip concludes with the narrator, voiced by Amelia Tyler, delivering this line: “It’s time for the final act, your tragedy has now become humanity’s.”
It appears that the Dark Urge will assist the Netherbrain in conquering the world, but they ultimately choose not to wait and witness the outcome. Alternatively, the Dark Urge may survive and depart, with the scene ending abruptly so that players are left in suspense about the true conclusion.
Along with the Dark Urge, Larian has also revealed another sinister ending for players to anticipate in the upcoming patch. While it may not involve the same diabolical element, it is just as unsettling.
The responses to the Reddit post are filled with devoted fans who appreciate the dark and malevolent nature of these endings. One commenter was particularly taken aback by the morbidity of the new cinematic, stating, “Just imagine subjecting your loyal companions, who have been with you every step of the way, to such cruel actions.”
Another player also acknowledged the impressive nature of the Dark Urge’s jump, with another comment stating, “You went to such extreme measures, causing all this death and chaos, just to take your own life.”
Some other fans have also struggled with dealing with endings like this. As one commenter similarly expressed, “The pain is too much for me to handle, I am unable to choose them.”
As September approaches, there is a possibility of more teasers being revealed before the release of Patch 7. However, it is also possible that Larian will save the most exciting surprises for fans to discover on their own.
