The highly anticipated trailer for Ballerina has finally arrived, showcasing exhilarating action sequences and intense fight scenes. However, it inadvertently reveals too much regarding the return of John Wick.
Ballerina serves as a compelling addition to the John Wick franchise, positioned chronologically between Parabellum and Chapter 4. The film stars Ana de Armas in the lead role of Eve Macarro, a character immersed in the deadly world of the Ruska Roma assassin traditions.
Fans were already aware of Keanu Reeves’ cameo as John Wick, but this new trailer expands on that revelation in a way that may detract from the experience for audiences who were hoping for an unexpected twist from his character’s return.
Revealing Too Much: The Ballerina Trailer
In a perfect scenario, John Wick’s appearance would have been a delightful surprise that viewers could enjoy organically while watching Ballerina. Nonetheless, the Lionsgate marketing team understandably wants to highlight Keanu Reeves’ inclusion in the film.
However, there are subtler ways to hint at his involvement without revealing specifics. The trailer shows Eve embarking on a revenge mission, drawing the attention of Chancellor Gabriel Byrne, who labels her actions a “declaration of war” and implores that she be stopped.
The Director, played by Anjelica Huston, suggests, “I’ll send someone to solve the problem.” It is at this moment that John Wick is introduced, disembarking from a train. If that wasn’t enough, the trailer continues by showcasing a direct confrontation between Eve and John Wick, where he presents her with a choice: to either leave or face death.

Eve resolutely responds, “I’m not leaving.” To which John replies, “Your choice, ” setting the stage for a dramatic showdown that, unfortunately, now feels predictable.
Beyond this narrative oversight, the trailer presents a visually striking film marked by dark atmospherics and graphically intense action sequences that fans of the John Wick series have come to love. Ana de Armas excels in her role, delivering a captivating performance as Eve.
Ballerina is slated for theatrical release on June 6, 2025. For enthusiasts seeking more action-packed content, check out our compilation of the greatest action films or our rankings of the John Wick series.
