Despite facing previous controversies, HYBE Corporation’s chairman, Bang Si Hyuk, is once again embroiled in a scandal. This time, he is being accused of exploiting BTS member Jin in order to enhance his public image.
The dispute began on June 13 when Bang Si Hyuk posted a picture of himself and Jin on social media.
The upload happened at the same time as Jin’s discharge from military service, signifying the completion of his required 18-month enlistment period.
Despite seemingly intended to celebrate Jin’s return, the gesture received swift backlash from both netizens and fans.
Lots of online users voiced disagreement, claiming that Bang Si Hyuk was using Jin’s fame to divert focus from recent negative coverage surrounding HYBE.
Of note was a recent conflict between Bang Si Hyuk and Min Hee Jin, which had greatly affected the company’s image.
The photo upload was perceived as being strategically timed to distract from the controversies by forging a close association with the popular BTS member.
The actions of Bang Si Hyuk were widely criticized on social media platforms with a flood of denouncing comments.
“Please stop involving yourself in strange controversies. It is clear that the chairman’s efforts to improve his image after his previous scandal are met with doubt and skepticism.”
The event has sparked renewed conversations about the relationship between management and artists in the K-pop sphere.
Supporters have demanded for HYBE Corporation to be transparent and provide genuine support for BTS members, while also calling for responsible and respectful management practices.
BELOW ARE A FEW REMARKS FROM THE FANS:
- please dont hurt them bro, dont u even try to hurt my BTS
- Don’t hurt bts. You came here thanks to them. Do not forget it. Don’t confuse BTS with other groups. If there is BTS, there is HYBE.
- Two things can be true at once…We can celebrate Jin’s return with love and kindness but we can also still demand accountability and appropriate action to be taken by Mr. Bang and Hybe.
- Mr. Bang, we implore you to listen to the ppl who have helped you build your empire when all you had was the foundation; it was ARMY who stood by to help you build the walls.
- Let’s do good to BTS. Please shout three times a day.
Despite his crucial role in propelling BTS to global success, Bang Si Hyuk now finds himself facing a difficult period of public scrutiny.
