On October 30th, various online communities and social media channels became abuzz with posts titled “Bang Si-hyuk and Min Hee-jin Spotted in China.”
The posts showcased several images featuring two individuals who strikingly replicated the iconic outfits associated with Chairman Bang and former CEO Min.
In these shared visuals, the person portraying Chairman Bang Si-hyuk was dressed in a black t-shirt paired with beige trousers and glasses, whereas the individual emulating former CEO Min Hee-jin caught attention in a green striped tee and blue cap, reminiscent of her well-known “press conference look.”
These images have made their way into Korean online platforms, sparking a wide range of discussions.
Internet users have voiced differing views, with some stating, “This really highlights the vast impact of K-pop. Just those outfits alone make it clear who they’re impersonating,” while others remarked, “This fits perfectly as a Halloween theme,” and questioned, “Is it right to imitate individuals who are currently in conflict?”
Simultaneously, on October 29th, the Seoul Central District Court’s Civil Division dismissed the temporary injunction that former CEO Min Hee-jin had sought against HYBE concerning her reappointment as CEO. Although Min requested her reinstatement in future board meetings from HYBE, the parent company of ADOR and a significant shareholder, the court deemed it “an unadmissible application lacking legal grounds.”
Later that day, Min Hee-jin’s legal representation, Sejong Legal, stated that “The court did not rule on the legitimacy of the shareholders’ agreement” and insisted that “The agreement between HYBE and former CEO Min is still valid.”
Furthermore, they mentioned, “We will thoroughly consider taking legal action regarding HYBE’s alleged breach of the shareholders’ agreement if HYBE and its appointed directors at ADOR fail to reappoint Min Hee-jin as CEO.”
This situation hints at the potential for legal proceedings against HYBE related to the shareholder contract, leading analysts to speculate that the uneasy relationship between former CEO Min Hee-jin, who still serves as an internal director at ADOR, and HYBE is likely to persist for the foreseeable future.
