Batman: Caped Crusader Season 1 – Release date, cast, plot & more

Batman fans have reason to rejoice as Prime Video is bringing the Dark Knight back to animation. The long-awaited Season 1 of Batman: Caped Crusader finally has a release date, meaning a new animated Batman show will soon be available for fans to enjoy.

Despite the wait, the last solo animated Batman series, Beware the Batman from 2013, was still criminally underrated. It followed a younger Batman as he encountered a version of the super team known as The Outsiders.

This new series has the potential to be a true collaboration of great minds. The team behind the successful Batman films and the acclaimed Batman animated series have joined forces for this project, making it a highly anticipated superhero show.

In anticipation of its highly awaited premiere, here is all the information we have about Prime Video’s Batman: Caped Crusader.

Batman: Caped Crusader release date

The release date for Batman: Caped Crusader Season 1 is August 1, 2024. The season will include 10 episodes, all of which will be available for fans to binge on the same day, making it a must-watch for Batman enthusiasts.

The show was initially scheduled to premiere on Cartoon Network and HBO Max in 2021, but due to budget cuts in 2022, it was removed from their lineup. However, in early 2023, Prime Video stepped in and acquired the series for two seasons.

Who is in the cast?

Batman: Caped Crusader boasts an impressive line-up of famous actors. However, it is not affiliated with James Gunn’s DCU film franchise, meaning they will not be featured in any future live-action Batman films.

Accompanying him is Christina Ricci, known for her role in Yellowjackets, who lends her voice to Catwoman. Jamie Chung, who has previously voiced various characters in multiple DC animated works, takes on the role of Harley Quinn.

In addition to his previous role as Batman in the all-ages series Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Diedrich Bader will also be reprising his return to the DC animated universe for Caped Crusader, this time as the voice of Two-Face.

Although the remaining cast members’ roles have not been disclosed yet, a teaser trailer has confirmed the presence of classic Batman villains such as Penguin, Clayface, Firebug, Gentleman Ghost, and Natalia Knight. A previously released first look by THR’s Heat Vision also confirmed the appearance of Jim Gordon in the series. Currently, there is no indication that The Joker will be making an appearance in the show.

Rumors have circulated for some time, but it has been confirmed that Kevin Conroy, the iconic voice of Batman, will not be making an appearance in Caped Crusader. According to a forum post by Bruce Timm in January 2024, the show’s creators had initially planned for Conroy to record something for the series, but unfortunately, they were unable to meet the deadline.

“I cannot confirm the validity of the CRISIS aspect in IGN’s reported scoop, but according to Timm, Kevin Conroy did not lend his voice to the upcoming CAPED CRUSADER series,”he stated. “We had hoped to include him in the show (and he was enthusiastic about it), but unfortunately he passed away before we could arrange it.”
