Battlefield 2042 has transitioned away from being a live-service game, with developers confirming that Season 7 serves as the final update. While minor maintenance and game mode rotations may continue, there will be no significant content releases or weapon rebalancing updates. Thus, this can be regarded as the definitive Battlefield 2042 guns tier list.
Battlefield 2042 Weapons Tier List
I have categorized the weapons into five distinct tiers—S, A, B, C, and D—from best to worst. Each tier comprises guns from various classes that I believe belong in that category, according to the following descriptions.
- S-tier: God-tier, meta weapons that excel in their designated range (i.e., SMG for close-range).
- A-tier: Exceptional choices that can match god-tier weapons in skilled hands.
- B-tier: Solid firearms that are enjoyable to use but overshadowed by top-tier selections.
- C-tier: These guns exist in the game but lack the competitiveness to be recommended.
- D-tier: The least effective options that are largely ineffective, and it’s advisable to avoid them.

Even when using base/no attachments, these weapons allow you to dominate opponents due to their fast TTK (time-to-kill) and manageable recoil patterns. While more weapons could have been included in the S-tier, I chose to highlight only the finest examples. If your preferred weapons are absent, they might be found in the A-tier category. Feel confident selecting any weapon from the table, as long as you possess good aim and game awareness.

Most Assault Rifles and Submachine Guns (SMGs) are represented in the A-tier and S-tier, reflecting their versatility in Battlefield 2042. These firearms are fully automatic, enjoyable to engage with, and generally easy for most players to master. Additionally, I have included some standout Shotguns (Tactical), DMRs (Marksman), and Sniper Rifles that can hold their own against S-tier weapons.

The Assault Rifles & LMGs listed here originate from prior games and struggle to compete with their Battlefield 2042 equivalents due to low TTK, average handling, and excessive visual recoil. While these firearms may not hold their ground against higher-tier loads, they can still provide a nostalgic experience when you want to try classic Battlefield weapons.

The D-tier features weapons widely regarded as ineffective by myself and many players in the Battlefield community. These guns are generally unfun to use, making it difficult to secure kills and hit targets, particularly the GVT 45-70 Tactical and SVD DMR. While the RPK-74M and TYPE 88 LMGs can still be operational, there are far superior alternatives available.
