Bayern Munich star Eric Dier hits out at “lack of appreciation” over Tottenham career

Eric Dier, a former Tottenham player, expressed his belief that his career has not been fully recognized as he stated his disappointment at not being selected for the England squad in the Euros this summer.

Despite joining Bayern Munich in January after a successful 10-year stint at Tottenham, 30-year-old Dier has recently expressed that he feels undervalued for his contributions as a player during his time with Spurs. Although he has come to terms with his departure, he believes that his achievements have not been given the recognition they deserve.

During an interview with The Overlap, he expressed his belief that there is a lack of appreciation. He also stated that he is aware of his accomplishments and is at peace with them.

After spending nine years at the same place, every player experiences highs and lows. However, these fluctuations can be less noticeable if one switches clubs.

“Changing clubs three times in nine years and experiencing both highs and lows is generally seen as normal as it allows for a period of adjustment. However, if one remains in the same place and faces similar challenges, it can be a difficult task to navigate.”

Dier acknowledged his focus on England and the upcoming Euros this summer, revealing his determination to secure a place in the Three Lions squad.

“I am determined to be a member of the England set-up and I firmly believe that I have the skills and abilities to do so,”he stated confidently.

Although I have not personally communicated with Gareth Southgate, I believe that giving my best performance for my club is the most important factor. Ultimately, the decision is not up to me.

Ever since [Antonio] Conte arrived at Tottenham, my performance has been consistently at its peak. This has continued even after I joined Bayern Munich, proving that I am still playing the best football of my career.

Many believe that I am 37 years old, but in reality I am only 30. Despite what others may think, I am far from reaching the end of my prime and I anticipate that this will continue to be my prime.

The ex-Tottenham player will have high hopes for Bayern Munich to emerge victorious against Arsenal in the initial match of their Champions League quarter-final clash against the Gunners on Tuesday, April 9.

The defender has cautioned Mikel Arteta’s team about the potential impact of Harry Kane on the match, citing the prolific goalscorer’s impressive record against the north London side.

Eric Dier appeared as a guest on The Overlap, which is sponsored by Sky Bet.
