BBC Accused of Insulting BTS, BLACKPINK, Stray Kids & aespa by K-Pop Fans

Just recently, BBC News released an article titled “The Biggest Band at Glastonbury You’ve Probably Never Heard Of”to introduce SEVENTEEN, a K-pop boy group that will be taking the stage at the upcoming Glastonbury Festival in the UK.

Nonetheless, while discussing SEVENTEEN, BBC News not only mentioned BTS, BLACKPINK, Stray Kids, and aespa, but also did so in a derisive manner and belittled the accomplishments of these groups.

The BBC noted that while groups such as BTS, Blackpink, Stray Kids, and Aespa have gained popularity, their most successful songs have typically been in collaboration with Western artists like Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga, or Coldplay.

BBC’s publication of this article has caused uproar among the fandoms of the mentioned groups, as it implies that their most popular songs are a result of collaborations with Western artists.

In actuality, the most prosperous songs from these groups are not collaborations. In the case of aespa, the group has never collaborated with Western artists, only featuring them in their songs.

In addition, BBC has displayed a lack of professionalism by misspelling aespa’s name, which should not occur for a major news outlet.

Due to this, supporters of the mentioned band are strongly condemning BBC for publishing such a derogatory article, resulting in over 7 million views on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter).

The source of the article is K Crush from BBC.
