Leaked documents concerning MrBeast’s upcoming Amazon competition, “Beast Games,”have sparked significant interest due to their stringent confidentiality clauses. Contestants in this high-stakes game show face a hefty $500,000 fine if they divulge any project details.
Set to premiere exclusively on Amazon Prime on December 19, 2023, “Beast Games”promises an enticing reward of $5 million for the victorious contestant. However, participants must tread carefully, as any breach of the confidentiality agreement could lead them to owe money instead.
According to Business Insider, the contract presented to contestants participating in the preliminary round featured a substantial penalty for sharing confidential information. Failure to adhere to these guidelines could result in significant financial repercussions.
Heavy Fines for Breaching Confidentiality
The leaked terms clarify that during the Las Vegas phase of the competition, contestants are strictly prohibited from leaking any information about “Beast Games.”Violation of this rule before the airing of the final episode on February 13, 2025, may trigger a $500,000 penalty directed at both the producers and the network.
Post-show disclosures are not exempt either; any information leaked after the conclusion of the competition incurs a $100,000 fine. Importantly, these penalties apply per breach, meaning that multiple violations could lead to a substantial financial burden for contestants.
Entertainment attorney Daniel J. Ain commented on the situation, stating that while most of the outlined terms are typical in entertainment contracts, the $500,000 fine for breaches is unusually steep and labeled the documentation as a “contestant agreement on steroids.” He emphasized that producers wield a variety of tools to safeguard their interests and create flexibility in production.
“Beast Games”boasts an impressive budget of $100 million.
In total, over 2,000 participants were involved in the Las Vegas segment of the show, which aimed to select contestants for the official production round taking place in Toronto. MrBeast has publicly disclosed that the Amazon series has a staggering budget of $100 million, which includes an astonishing $14 million allocated to construct an entire city exclusively for the contestants.
