Behind the Scenes of Jennie’s SPOT Dance Challenge with Zico

After the music video for “SPOT!”was released, Zico and BLACKPINK’s Jennie both shared a dance challenge video for the new song. The 25-second clip quickly went viral on social media and is predicted to become a popular dance trend on TikTok within a few days.

It was particularly meaningful as it marked Jennie’s first dance challenge using her own song. She shared the video on her social media and bashfully acknowledged that it was her inaugural challenge.

On the livestream featuring Jennie and Zico, the duo known for creating the popular “dance challenge”, they also shared intriguing behind-the-scenes anecdotes. Zico credited Jennie as the choreographer for the dance challenge.

Specifically, the male singer revealed, “Jennie was the one who came up with the challenge. I have participated in numerous dance challenges in the past, but this one was organized by Jennie.”

Zico stressed, “Jennie had suggested all the dances for this challenge. She smiled and mentioned, “He asked me about doing this and that, but I declined. He proposed other ideas, but I continued to say, ‘No, not like that’.”

Zico is credited as the initiator of the dance challenge trend. In 2020, he released the song “Any song”and shared videos of himself dancing to the song with other idols to promote it. This sparked a widespread adoption of the dance challenge throughout the Korean entertainment industry.

During his appearance on an entertainment show, Zico admitted that he had faced criticism for starting a dance challenge trend. The male rapper expressed, “Usually, idols have breaks to rest or rehearse for their performances. However, due to this trend, they now have to spend their breaks filming dance challenge videos and learning choreographies from other idols. I would like to take this opportunity to apologize to all of them for initiating this trend.”
