Belift Lab Under Investigation: ENHYPEN Jay’s Health Statement Sparks Backlash

Belift Lab Under Investigation: ENHYPEN Jay’s Health Statement Sparks Backlash

During ENHYPEN’s current tour in Japan, member Jay once again encountered health obstacles. On June 26, 2024, after their first show in Hiroshima as part of the ENHYPEN FATE PLUS IN JAPAN tour, Jay began to experience severe knee pain, revealing the issue to the public.

Belift Lab, the agency that manages ENHYPEN, released an official statement on June 27, 2024 in response to Jay’s condition. The statement addressed Jay’s health concerns and mentioned the medical advice he received in Hiroshima.

Jay was advised by medical professionals, as informed by Belift Lab, to decrease the amount of strenuous movements he makes, which includes choreography and intense performances.

The statement reads as follows:

“Hello. This is Belift Lab. This is regarding ENHYPEN Jay’s health condition and his upcoming schedules.

After the first day of shows for ENHYPEN FATE PLUS IN JAPAN Hiroshima, Jay experienced knee pain and was treated and diagnosed by local medics. As a result, they advised him to refrain from strenuous movement including choreography and performances, etc.

Although the artist himself possesses a strong will to participate, following the advice from the medics, we will be minimising his movement during today’s show. He will not participate in the sound check and will perform on a chair without dancing for the show. As for Music Core in Japan, ENHYPEN will perform as 6, without Jay. We ask fans for their understanding.

The company prioritizes the health of the artist and will do our best in his treatment and recovery so that he can meet fans healthily as soon as possible. Thank you.”- Belift Lab

Despite reaching a compromise for the concert, Jay has decided not to take part in the upcoming Music Core in Japan on June 28, 2024. This has been a recurring problem, as fans have noted Jay’s past struggles with knee issues, which first arose during the group’s US tour in late 2023.

Fans of ENHYPEN have expressed their disappointment regarding Belift Lab’s handling of Jay’s health, believing it to be inadequate. These worries have only grown as Jay’s knee problems have continued, with clear signs of discomfort evident as far back as November 2023, when he was seen wearing a knee brace.

Some fans believe that the agency’s approach seems to be more reactive than proactive, as they only take significant measures once the situation has already deteriorated. They point out the demanding nature of Jay’s schedule and the added pressure of preparing for ENHYPEN’s upcoming comeback while also managing an extended tour and other promotional activities.

The group’s busy schedule remains uninterrupted, stretching until late August and culminating in a planned comeback on July 14, 2024.
