Below Deck Med chef faces backlash for breakfast service

During breakfast service on Below Deck Mediterranean Season 9, Chef Johnathan Shillingford was met with complaints about the temperature of his eggs being too cold.

Despite being a newcomer on Below Deck Mediterranean Season 9, Chef Johnathan Shillingford has already made some blunders this season.

During the initial charter, he neglected to prepare late-night snacks for the guests, resulting in second stew Elena Dubaich and deckhand Gael Cameron having to take over as he was not available to assist due to sleeping.

In the latest episode of Below Deck Med on June 17, Chef Johnathan once again made a mistake by preparing huevos rancheros for the guests before they were even awake, serving them eggs for breakfast too early.

Despite being warned by the stews, the chef still allowed the eggs to sit for an hour and a half before serving them to the guests.

Upon sampling the huevos rancheros, primary charter guest Gigi Fernandez noticed that they were served at a low temperature and promptly requested for them to be reheated.

Upon discovering that the food prepared by Chef Johnathan did not meet her high standards, she wasted no time in heading to the bridge to voice her complaints to Captain Sandy Yawn.

The evening prior, the chef presented chicken and chocolate sponge cake as the dinner menu. In her confessional, Captain Sandy acknowledged that the dish was not up to the standards expected on a superyacht in the Mediterranean.

After the episode aired, Gigi took to Instagram to reflect on her experience on Below Deck Med Season 9 and share her candid thoughts.

In the caption, she wrote about how the gathering was filled with great friends and held in a stunning location. However, the food was disappointing as she couldn’t even finish a plate of chocolate cake, indicating its poor quality.

At this point, it has only been one day since Gigi’s charter began. To find out if Chef Johnathan will continue preparing basic food or if he will be dismissed by Captain Sandy and replaced by another chef, viewers will have to watch next week’s episode.
