Despite being a new game, Black Myth: Wukong has already caught the attention of modders who have been creating their own modifications for the game. Here are some of the top ones currently available.
The release of Black Myth: Wukong caused a sensation as it quickly rose to become the second-most concurrently played game of all time on Steam, garnering a massive following within just 24 hours.
The impressive number of players is well-deserved. The game flawlessly depicts the legendary tale of Journey to the West, and our own review praises Black Myth: Wukong as “a remarkable blend of stunning graphics and artistic imagination”.
Without a doubt, gamers have consistently demonstrated that no game is perfect and could benefit from some modifications. With that in mind, we have gathered a list of the top Black Myth: Wukong mods available for download on PC, presented in no specific order.
Black Myth: Wukong – Simple Map Mod
This mod, known as ‘Simple Map’, provides a much-needed map for the game. Despite its simple name, the added map is surprisingly detailed.
This feature includes functions that enable players to zoom in, scroll the map, and display nearby resources, reducing the tedium of gameplay. While it may seem minor, this addition is a game-changer for Black Myth: Wukong’s easily overlooked branching paths. With over 30,000 downloads to date, players have shown their appreciation for this mod.
Black Myth: Wukong – Son Goku Modification
Despite its slightly sillier nature, Goku strongly identifies with Black Myth: Wukong and feels that he is a perfect fit for the role, given the character’s similarities to the legendary Monkey King. The mod has already gained massive popularity on social media and is highly acclaimed among gamers.
NorskPL, a user of Nexus Mods, has created a mod called “Son Goku”which can be found at this link. This mod transforms the Destined One into Goku from the popular anime series Dragon Ball Z, specifically his Super Saiyan form. Additionally, players have the option to activate Ultra Instinct.

Black Myth: Wukong – Double Diamond Pickaxe Mod
We couldn’t resist including this silly mod on our list, as our inner Minecraft fan wouldn’t let us leave it out. This Mod transforms your Willow Wood starter staff into the iconic Diamond Pickaxe, or rather, two of them.
Regrettably, it does not provide any additional advantages such as the capability to mine Obsidian; however, this feature is not particularly useful in Black Myth: Wukong.
Black Myth: Wukong – Improved Dodge Mod
The Better Dodge mod by Black Myth: Wukong increases the number of I-frames during dodging, providing players with a smoother experience in avoiding certain repetitive boss attacks. It also addresses the input lag previously reported by players, resulting in a more responsive dodge.
Currently, the settings cannot be adjusted, so users must accept them as they are given. For some players, this may cause discomfort as it may feel like cheating and go against their personal values.
Black Myth: Wukong – Double-Bladed Lightsaber Mod
If you felt that Black Myth: Wukong needed some sci-fi elements, you can now transform all of the game’s weapons into Darth Maul’s signature Double-Bladed Lightsaber with the help of NorskPL’s mod.
While it may be enjoyable to tap into your inner Sith Lord, if the idea of a monkey wielding a Double-Bladed Lightsaber is too absurd for your liking, NorskPL has also created a mod that transforms the Destined One into Darth Maul. This is a much more fitting choice.
Installing Mods in Black Myth: Wukong
Despite the lack of official mod support, there is no standardized method for installing mods on Black Myth: Wukong. Each mod on this list has its own unique installation instructions, but in most cases, they must be placed in a specific folder to function properly.
Navigate to the directory where Black Myth: Wukong is installed and locate the following path: BlackMythWukong\b1\Content\Paks~mods. If the ~mods folder does not exist, you have the option to create it.
In addition, you will be required to configure Launch Options for the game on Steam. To do so, right-click and choose Properties. Next, add -fileopenlog in the Launch Options field. Vortex, a launch tool developed by Nexus Mods, can also be utilized to efficiently manage your load order.
Can Black Myth: Wukong mods be used on console?
At present, it is not possible to utilize mods in the console version of Black Myth: Wukong and there has been no official statement from developer Game Science regarding the potential implementation of this feature in the future.
It is not common for games outside of Bethesda titles such as Starfield, Skyrim, and Fallout to have official mod support for consoles. Therefore, we cannot predict the likelihood of this feature being available.
