During the operational hours of Stellar Blade, Adam will be controlling your Drone to assist Eve in navigating through the game’s world and provide her with necessary guidance and information. The Drone can also be utilized to mark important locations on the map or HUD. As the game progresses, the Drone’s capabilities increase and it can be enhanced with different abilities.

The drone in Stellar Blade has dual functions, serving as a key to unlock higher-level loot containers and as a weapon to take down enemies from a distance. In this guide, we will discuss the process of upgrading your drone and provide tips for using it effectively in combat with some powerful drone builds.

Upgrading the Drone in Stellar Blade

In Stellar Blade, upgrading your Drone early on is possible after obtaining the first Drone Upgrade Module in the building site. This will enable you to equip the Hacking Tool on your drone, giving you the ability to unlock additional loot containers scattered throughout the world. You may even want to revisit earlier areas to open previously inaccessible containers.

The Drone’s capabilities can be enhanced by utilizing the Repair Console located at a campsite. By navigating to the Drone dropdown menu, you can equip it with Slugs, Stinger Missiles, and a Charge Blaster Railgun. Additionally, you have the option to upgrade the Drone’s Scanner, making it simpler to locate items in the wasteland.

Lily will upgrade your Drone automatically in the story, but you have the option to choose how to upgrade its firepower from there.

Best Drone Builds in Stellar Blade

Initially, the availability of Drone Upgrade Modules will be restricted. Eventually, you will acquire a sufficient amount to fully enhance your Drone’s gun. However, prior to this, it is important to prioritize the most beneficial path for your needs.

While it may be tempting to quickly unlock all three gun options and upgrade them evenly, doing so will leave you as a Jack of all trades and a master of none. Instead, focus on one of the following Drone builds:

Balanced Drone Build

When we mention balance, we are not suggesting upgrading everything evenly. Therefore, for this build, allocate upgrades to both your basic gun (Slugs) and your Scanner, and select either Stinger Missiles or the Charge Blaster Railgun, but not both.

By doing this, you will have the ability to use your gun to shoot faraway targets, which is essential for certain puzzles, without constantly worrying about exhausting your ammo. Additionally, you will have a stronger alternative for dealing with elite enemies and bosses.

We suggest selecting the option that best complements your playstyle. For example, if you frequently use your gun in combat, prioritize using Slugs. However, if you primarily use your gun as a utility, it would be more beneficial to focus on either Stinger Missiles or the Charge Blaster Railgun, but not both. This will provide you with strong long-range capabilities during combat.

Exploration Drone Build

This strategy focuses on emphasizing the development of your Slugs and Scanner and using Drone Upgrade Modules to fully upgrade these skill trees as quickly as possible. Instead of investing in Stinger Missiles or the Railgun, this allows you to have a formidable and dependable weapon that is effective against various enemies, including bosses.

Although relying on your melee skills may be the only downside, they will prove to be crucial in tougher battles as your gun can only serve as one of many weapons at your disposal and cannot be solely relied upon for heavy support. However, it is worth noting that in most boss fights, your melee abilities alone are more than enough to carry you to victory.

Boss Drone Build

Although you can still use your Slugs against regular enemies and in puzzles, your main priority will be upgrading your Drone to battle bosses and elite opponents. This will require you to allocate all of your Drone Module Upgrades to either the Stinger Missiles or the Charge Blaster Railgun.

Although ammo will be scarce, you can take advantage of the opportunity to use a highly potent gun against bosses. This build is perfect for those who prefer melee and basic Slugs for their journey through the wasteland but also desire additional ranged assistance in boss battles.

Once you have upgraded one of the two heavy weapons to its full potential, it may be beneficial to allocate some Modules towards your Scanner. This will allow you to discover a greater number of items while exploring the world.

Eventually, you’ll have the opportunity to fully upgrade your gun with all three paths: Slugs, Missiles, and the Charge Blaster Railgun. However, since Drone Module Upgrades are limited, it is advisable to select one of the Drone builds mentioned above.
