Bethesda Says Meeting Expectations for Elder Scrolls 6 Is “Impossible”

Elder Scrolls 6 developers at Bethesda acknowledge that it will be “impossible” to meet fan expectations for the game, viewing this challenge as a “blessing and a curse.”

Elder Scrolls 6 is generating massive anticipation as one of the most awaited games in the upcoming years. Following the monumental success of Skyrim, Bethesda has been diligently working on the next installment since its announcement in 2018.

Although the studio initially diverted its focus to launch its new IP, Starfield, Bethesda has gradually begun sharing new insights regarding what players can expect from Elder Scrolls 6.

Despite being teased for six years, very little information is still available about the game. In a recent interview with KiWi Talkz, Bethesda’s Bruce Nesmith elaborated on how the immense pressure to deliver an outstanding product is both a “blessing and a curse” for the development team working on Elder Scrolls 6.

Nesmith, a seasoned veteran of Bethesda, has previously contributed as a writer for notable titles such as Fallout 3, Fallout 4, and Elder Scrolls: Oblivion.

“The fans who want to buy Elder Scrolls 6 have expectations that are almost impossible to meet,” Nesmith stated.

He expressed concern that the marketing teams are dismayed by the situation, commenting, “If it isn’t perfect or doesn’t score over 95 on Metacritic, we’re considered a failure.”

While Nesmith has confidence that Elder Scrolls 6 will be “an amazing game,” he emphasized that it will inevitably be compared to all prior Bethesda titles.

To illustrate this point further, Nesmith pointed to Larian Studios, the developer behind Baldur’s Gate 3, noting that when a team achieves significant success, “expectations sky high” for subsequent projects, even if they were not previously renowned.

Elder Scrolls 6 is projected for release sometime in 2026. We will ensure to keep you informed with all the latest updates on the game’s release date as more information becomes available.
