During Act 1 of Baldur’s Gate 3, players have noticed that the favorite Cleric, Shadowheart, faces a major issue. In order to address this, here are some suggestions that players are offering to fix her early game experience.
Despite being basic spells for Clerics, Shadowheart has struggled with landing Sacred Flame or Guiding Bolt during the early stages of Baldur’s Gate 3, leading to her being endlessly teased. This is due to her initial stats blocking her from successfully casting the spells, causing many players to lose faith in her during Act 1.
This is precisely why seasoned Baldur’s Gate 3 enthusiasts are urging players to promptly respec Shadowheart upon encountering Withers in the narrative. If you wish to include her in your group, boosting her Intelligence attributes can swiftly transform her into a formidable ally.
In addition, Reddit user “Omgzjusin” proposed changing her subclass in order to reduce her reliance on Wisdom for Cantrips and spells.
“The OP suggested making her a nature cleric and adjusting her stats to prevent her from intentionally feeding. They also recommended equipping her with a torch and shillelagh, which have a +3 attack roll and deal 5-15 damage. This is a significant improvement compared to her previous spells, fire bolt and sacred flame, as it has an average damage of 10 and effectively triples her damage output until level 5.”
Shadowheart original Cleric build needs to be switched for her to land any spells in Act 1.
Some players suggest that in order to fully utilize Shadowheart’s abilities, it is beneficial to respec her into a Life or Light cleric. This is especially helpful if your main character is not a tanky class, as it will make her less vulnerable and able to withstand damage in early-game battles.
If playing as a Light cleric is not your preference, Redditor FunnyHeater recommended trying another subclass, as long as you first adjust her stats.
