BIBI participated in the 60th Baeksang Arts Awards on May 7th, which took place at COEX in Samsung-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
In 2019, BIBI began her career as a singer and later transitioned into acting, using her real name Kim Hyung-seo. She has since been actively pursuing both careers, taking on roles such as Yeon-gyu (Hong Xa-bin)’s step-sister Kim Ha-yan and Lee Hae-ryeon in “The Words of Evil”. Her performance in the drama has earned her nominations for Best New Actress in both TV and Film categories.
In the end, BIBI was announced as the winner of the Best New Actress award in the Film category. BIBI, who was simply enjoying the awards ceremony with a radiant smile and had not anticipated winning, was caught off guard and pointed to herself with trembling hands when her name was called. With the help of senior actor Song Joong-ki and director Kim Chang-hoon, BIBI rushed up to the stage and humbly admitted, “I didn’t expect to win, so I haven’t prepared a speech.”
Upon witnessing BIBI’s puzzled expression, Song Joong-ki and the other members of the “Hwaran”team were unable to contain their amusement.
The moment of BIBI at the 60th Baeksang Arts Awards quickly went viral on social media and online communities. As a result, numerous netizens drew comparisons to Ji Hyun-woo’s iconic meme from the 2021 KBS Drama Awards when he won the Daesang award.
Despite facing numerous challenges, BIBI made a triumphant return to the music scene with her chart-topping track “Bam Yang Gang”. In addition, her portrayal of actress Kim Hyung-seo earned her a Baeksang award and solidified her status in the industry. Fans are eagerly anticipating her role as detective Goo Ja-young in SBS’s upcoming drama “The Fiery Priest 2”.
