BIBI is facing accusations of confusing coolness with rudeness after making disparaging remarks about the school during her stage performance.
On May 26th, BIBI’s remarks during a university festival sparked a debate on various social media outlets, including YouTube. The controversial incident took place at Namseoul University, where BIBI enthusiastically shouted, “Who here dislikes school? Who believes school is X?”to interact with the crowd.
The video of this particular moment was edited and subsequently shared extensively, accumulating a total of 590,000 views by that day. The majority of reactions to the video were negative, with numerous individuals criticizing BIBI for her use of a crude term that demeans male body parts. This was especially concerning given the inappropriate timing and setting in which the incident occurred.
The problem arises from the fact that this particular scene was not relevant to BIBI’s performance. The comment was made in the midst of a casual conversation between songs, rather than in a moment that called for a severe criticism of the school. BIBI’s sudden outburst of “Who hates school?”followed by “Who believes school is X?”did not fit with the overall mood or purpose of the event.
BIBI then urged the audience to participate by saying, “If I behave like a negative X, please use the term ‘crazy X,’” as she introduced her song “Vengeance.”

The video quickly went viral on social media, resulting in a significant decrease in public support for BIBI, who had been gaining a lot of attention and popularity for her hit song “Bam Yang Gang.”While some argued that her comments fell under the category of “freedom of speech,”the majority condemned them as being unacceptable.
Upon learning that the school had invited her to perform at their festival, netizens expressed their disappointment and disapproval, stating that it was unacceptable for her to use the opportunity to criticize the school and incite negativity. Many commented that her behavior was not cool, but rather embarrassing and shameful. Especially considering the high tuition fees paid by the students, her actions were deemed inappropriate and disrespectful.
This is not the first time that BIBI has been involved in controversy. In the past year, at a festival, BIBI made headlines for kissing a female fan while in the audience. Similarly, at Korea University’s 2022 festival, she sat on a male student’s lap and placed his hand on her waist before kissing a fan on the cheek as the music ended. During another festival in 2021, held in California, BIBI caused a stir when she threw condoms into the audience and also kissed a female fan, exhibiting behavior that was considered shocking by many.
Despite having a unique musical style and producing several hit songs, BIBI understands the importance of restraint when it comes to making others uncomfortable.
BIBI joined the Spanish Department at Busan University of Foreign Studies and previously received backlash for taking an extended leave of absence. Despite not fully completing her academic journey, she still resorted to using inappropriate language regarding the university.
