On December 18th, the highly anticipated press conference for tvN’s new Sat-Sun drama, “When the Stars Gossip”, took place at The Saint Hotel in Sindorim, Seoul. The event saw the participation of lead actors Lee Min-ho and Gong Hyo-jin, alongside Oh Jung-se, Han Ji-eum, and director Park Shin-woo.

About the Drama

“When the Stars Gossip”revolves around the intriguing life of Boss Eve, played by Gong Hyo-jin, who operates at a space station. The narrative takes a turn as she encounters space tourist Gong Ryong, portrayed by Lee Min-ho, who arrives with a hidden agenda. As Korea’s first space-themed drama, it aims to provide a unique glimpse into the everyday existences of office workers in a zero-gravity environment.

Insights from the Director

During the press conference, director Park Shin-woo elaborated on the challenges of producing such a large-scale project, estimated at 50 billion won. He candidly remarked, “While I harbored some concerns, my approach was to embrace the journey instead of feeling overwhelmed. The production took an extensive duration—five times longer than our typical projects. It was certainly an undertaking that could have resulted in three different dramas within that timeframe.”

Cast Reflections

Lee Min-ho expressed his admiration for Gong Hyo-jin, stating, “She is a senior actress whom I deeply respect. Although our paths crossed later than I anticipated, working alongside her has been an incredible experience.” Gong Hyo-jin responded playfully, exclaiming “Ya!” which resonated with laughter from the audience.

Further expressing his gratitude, Lee Min-ho stated, “I genuinely appreciate the chance to share scenes with her, especially in an environment devoid of gravity.” In response, Gong Hyo-jin mentioned her initial perceptions, noting, “I had heard rumors about him and assumed he might not take work seriously. However, he turned out to be someone very thoughtful regarding his words and actions.”

As the conversation turned to their camaraderie post-filming, Gong Hyo-jin playfully remarked about Lee Min-ho’s behavior, likening him to a younger brother who often doesn’t heed his older sister’s advice. Park Kyung-rim, attempting to moderate the lighthearted banter, remarked on their rapport, further underscoring their “reliable partnership.”
