Big Bang’s Taeyang Shares Funny Anecdote About Giving V-Shaped Haircuts During Military Service

On April 19th, a video was posted on the YouTube channel “ZIP DS”featuring Big Bang’s members Daesung and Taeyang, rapper Beenzino, and actors Joo Won and Go Kyung-pyo. In the video, they discussed their military experiences.

As the cast discussed their experience in the military, Taeyang openly admitted, “I excelled during my time there,”which elicited laughter from everyone. He went on to reveal the reason behind his decision to become a barber soldier. Taeyang explained, “There was not much to do in the military, and my unit lacked entertainment. The PX was only open once or twice a week. I wanted to be productive, but there were no opportunities.”Upon hearing this, Daesung couldn’t contain his laughter and joked, “So, you decided to style someone else’s hair instead?”

Taeyang elaborated, stating, “I had confidence in my abilities and believed that I would excel. I noticed that others lacked talent, and I knew that with proper training, I would be successful. I asked them to teach me, even though I was not officially a barber soldier yet. That’s when I began to practice.”

He explained, “While I was still learning, some people would ask me, ‘Should I go to Taeyang for a haircut?’ Eventually, I became a barber at the 5th corps, where we had a V mark to represent our unit. I wanted to leave my mark, so I started giving people haircuts with the V mark on the back of their heads. This caught the attention of the battalion commander, who then joked, ‘Why do their hair look like that?’ This sparked laughter among everyone.”
